To get a little more physical activity into our days, I made this exercise cube for my kids! A great way to help kids exercise and get out some wiggles!
Here's how I made it:
- Using white cardstock, cut out 6 squares. (Mine are about 6"x6" squares.)
- Write the activities on each square.
- Tape the squares together using clear packing tape.
- Before you tape the last square on, stuff in a few pieces of crumpled newspaper to give it more stability.
Here's what's on it:
- Jump 5 times.
- Flap your arms like a bird.
- Hop on one foot.
- Dance!
- Run from the front door to the back door.
The boys love it!
Do you like this idea?

We loved this so much we adapted it for our younger two kids (3 and 1.5). I made an activity one like you and then I made one with pictures of animals for the babies to act out! (I posted it on my facebook page - www.facebook.com/CricketandScooter) I will be back again and again, you have lots of great ideas!!!
Thank you!

I made the same thing with a friend for our class. We made each side interchangeable with Velcro-ed on sides that involved the other areas of learning. Like nursery rhymes, movements similar to yours we just made stick figures out of pip-cleaners, shapes, colors and counting with dots. We got one of the best marks in the class.
I think I need to make this for myself!! :)
I just discovered your fantastic blog through Pinterest! Love this idea and can't wait to make one for my son!

Thank you for another informative site. Where else may I am getting that kind of information written in such a perfect manner? I have a project that I’m simply now working on, and I have been on the glance out for such information.

I think I'm going to make one to take on vacation with us. I may make it a little smaller so it would easily fit in a purse or bag. This would be perfect to use while waiting to be seated for dinner or at rest stops!
This will bring awesome for my son who has ADHD
Encouraging your kid to physically move and be active is very important for you furthermore. Youngsters tend to mimic their oldsters, and if your own health habits are but ideal, your youngsters are probably to imitate. Rather than setting a poor example, let your kid see you partaking in regular exercise. Simply thirty minutes every day is enough to expertise an excellent health boost, and although your kid does not seem to be listening, they are.
I just found this on pinterest. I printed up a paper cube and wrote the movement activities on each square and then folded it up.
Then I printed another cube and wrote the numbers 1-6 on each one. I have my child roll both dice and then she has to recognize the number and do the activity that she rolled that many times. Whoa, does that make sense? Anyways, combining learning and moving is always great - thanks!
I have been using a decorated tissue box filled with action activities and call it the "box of silly things". Have the kids take turns reaching in...I like your rolling cube idea even better. So interactive and fun!
I like the drawings on your cube and I like to have the exact same cube.
Would you mind to make a printer template for me?
Older kids will so enjoy this cube. But, if you're going to use it with boys over 8, put a floral foam cube (the stiff green ones) in the center for indestructible strength. As a teacher of grades k-5 music, I learned some of those boys don't know their strength...
Two quart/liter milk cartons make good cubes, too. In fact, ten 2 liter cartons (one decimeter each) strung together on a long lace make a meter --- great for measuring practice.
This is nice. Very creative way to inspire kids to physical exercising! I really like the physical activity cube idea & looking forward to try it out. Hopefully my kids will love the idea.
Thanks for the post. I really appreciate the way you have presented your content in this post... I loved it.
