Dec. 11 - Button Candycanes

The 11th day of December brought more button fun!
Last night as I laid in bed and was about to fall asleep, I had the thought to put red buttons on a white pipe cleaner, bend it, and make a candy cane. I almost got out of bed and did it right then, but fell asleep before I even realized that I was still awake.

But bright and early, with LM’s hands leading the way, we gave it a whirl! He had so much fun threading the pipe cleaner through the button holes. Some of them were pretty small and Mommy helped out a bit, but mostly he did it all!

But we couldn’t stop there. No sir-ee. LM is in love with these buttons, so I gave him another pipe cleaner and let him put on whatever buttons his little hearty desired. This was a fun activity because not only was it festive, fun, good concentration & fine-motor skill practice, but it also was interesting enough to hold this little Pre-schoolers attention for a good 45 minutes!

How cute! My son loves threading pipe cleaners through some oversized beads, and he also loves playing with my button collection lately (for at least an hour a day!! with mom and dad). I wonder if our pipe cleaners would fit through the buttons. Definitely going to try this later today. Thanks for the idea.
