Parking Lot - Numbers

Here is a fun little idea to help your little ones practice numbers, especially if your little ones are like my little one and love little cars. (That's a lot of littles!)

Anyways, I saw this idea over on Counting Coconuts and knew LM would love it.

As you can see, it was quite simple, which is the way I prefer things to be. Just take a piece of paper, draw out parking spaces with numbers and have at it! LM got his basket of cars and each time I would say a number, he would choose a car and drive it into that parking spot.

He has had a lot of fun with this, and it was a great way to practice numbers in a way that he really enjoyed.

Do you like this idea?

Hey I wanted to give you the link to these racecar letters. I thought they would be a fun addition to the parking space...

Cool it's just like computer games :)

I've done something similar in my Kindergarten classroom except the students matched lowercase letters that I stuck onto the cars to the uppercase letters that I'd written on each parking space. :)

Love this! We made a few parking lots and are working on bigger numbers. I even mix up the numbers to make it more challenging. Definitely easy and fun! Thanks for posting this:)

This would work for older kids too, if you are working on addition or subtraction, you could put numbers on the spaces and then call out addition problems, such as 1+2 and have them choose the spot with a 3 on it.

My son will love this! I'm going to dig up some cars that I played with as a kid and do this activity! So simple, yet so good!

For younger kids, it might be fun to number the cars. At the beginning, they are just matching the numbers. I would say something like, "You chose number 2. Can you put the number 2 car in the number 2 spot?"

I had my grandson stick numbers 1 to 20 on the top of his cars with sticky dots, and then drive them along a road to get to the carpark and find the correct parking spot. he loved it!
